Welcome to Philo Llamas!

Come on in and meet the llamas, and see what we do with their fiber.

Learn a little bit about llamas and their care, enjoy a few pictures, and get a sneak preview of our fiber products.
We start here, welcoming you just as Lil is welcoming her new son Felix to the world.

Welcome to our farm!

Please explore the wonderful world of llamas in the pages of this site, and come meet each of the animals in person at our farm in the beautiful Champlain Valley of Vermont.

Let's start by meeting the four llamas that live at Philo Llamas.  On the right here, Felix, Shadow, and Angelina are all waiting patiently while the lead llamas walk to the barn.

Come meet our llamas below, and if you would like to meet them in person, email us to set up a farm date!

Our Llamas

Please meet the herd! Pictured below are the two ladies, Angelina and Soleil, and the two boys, Felix and Shadow.

Angelina

Angelina is the "old lady" of the barn, but she was such a cute cria!  We can't resist this picture.  Born in 2004, she provides good company to her niece Soleil and tries to keep the rowdy boys in line.

Soleil

Solstice Lily was born on a beautiful summer solstice morning, and immediately became our sweet Soleil.  She is a real love bug,  happiest when giving hugs and getting a neck scratch.

Felix

Felix is Soleil's not so little brother.  Tall and handsome, he doesn't like anyone to know what a sweetheart he really is.  He has inherited the job of keeping watch over the herd, and he does a great job at it.

Moon Shadow

Soleil's one and only cria continued the cosmic tradition.  Shadow was born just before a lunar eclipse, and lives up to his name with his dark coat and quiet manner.

The Philo Farm herd

Llamas like to just hang out and enjoy the sunset!

The Philo Farm herd in 2019

In the middle of shearing season, something catches their eyes.  Everyone is on alert!

On the way to an event....

Llamas learn to travel in a minivan quite readily, and enjoy going for outings.

Kushed in the van

The "kush" position is the llama's comfortable at-rest position.

Soleil and Shadow

Mom and son enjoy some quiet time together.

Stand off

Llamas and the household dogs can learn to get along, but it takes work and patience on the part of the dog and owner.
